Unfinished fight for first place

The battle for the first place in the women's division of the V-League is exciting. With Heungkuk Life once again gaining momentum and chasing Hyundai Engineering & Construction, fierce battles are expected to continue until the end for the winner of the regular season.

Heungkuk Life won a set score 3-1 (25-14, 25-20, 21-25, 25-17) in a home game against Korea Expressway Corporation in the sixth round of the 2023-2024 V-League Women's Division at Samsan World Gymnasium in Incheon at 1:50 p.m. on the 1st.

Thanks to the victory, Heungkuk Life had 70 points (25 wins and 7 losses), closely chasing top-ranked Hyundai E&C (72 points). Korea Expressway Corporation ranked sixth with 33 points (10 wins and 22 losses).

Heungkuk Life Insurance suffered a set score of 1-3 (23-25, 22-25, 27-25, 23-25) at the Articles of Incorporation on April 24. Willow Johnson, who joined the team ahead of the fifth round, played a role as a good son and even Reina Tokoku survived, achieving the fifth round victory, but suffered defeat immediately in the first game of the sixth round.

The five-day break, however, brought Heungkuk Life back to where it was. "During the break, I fixed my internal problems and improved my physical condition," said Heungkuk Life coach Marcello Avondan before the game on Sunday. 스포츠토토

Heungkuk Life Insurance players showed off good condition on the day. Willow Johnson, who suffered ligament injury in his right knee, scored the most points (26 points) since his debut in the V-League on the day, to lead his team's victory. Kim Yeon-koung also scored 21 points (45.95 percent attack success rate). Raina left some regrets in the attack, but displayed stable reception and critical digs to save her team.

"We finished the first and second sets well, but we lost some concentration in the third set. However, we were able to regain concentration and win in the last set," Avon terminal said after the match.

With Heungkuk Life Insurance's victory, volleyball fans are now facing a showdown between Hyundai E&C and Chung Kwan-jang on Tuesday. Hyundai E&C is considered one of the strongest teams along with Heungkuk Life Insurance this season. With four wins and two losses in the fifth round, Hyundai E&C slowed down a bit and gave up the lead to Heungkuk Life once, but regained stability and rose to No. 1.

The problem is that Chung is the best dark horse in women's V-League in the second half of this year. At the end of the third round, Chung finished in fifth place but continued to enjoy sensational performance with four wins and two losses in the fourth round and five wins and one loss in the fifth round. He won both of his first two matches in the sixth round. Chung is now on a five-game winning streak through Sunday.

"The two-day match between Chung and Hyundai Engineering & Construction is very important to us," Avon-dan said before Sunday's match. If Hyundai Engineering & Construction loses, chances are high that Heungkuk Life will rise to No. 1 again. Of course, this match is also important to Chung, who has to secure the third place.

Kim Yeon-kyung said in an interview after the game on the 1st, "I definitely felt that I was in good condition when I did it with Chung. The rise is right. Joopo Giovanna Milana and Megawatti Puttywi look good. I'm not happy to see (Jeong) keep in good condition as I can be a PO opponent in the future. Still, I hope he can hold Hyundai Engineering & Construction."

Heungkuk Life Insurance and Hyundai Engineering & Construction, which are struggling for the championship cup, are heating up the V-League women's regular season, which is nearing its end.
